Book Travelling Thursday #12: Choose a book that inspires you.

It’s time for Book Traveling Thursdays! This meme is created by the wonderful bloggers from Danielle’s Book Blog and The Girl Who Read Too Much. If you want to participate in this meme, you just have to go to the Goodreads group where the weekly themes will be announced at the beginning of each month. I will link the group here. After that, you have to just select a book according to the theme and explain why you chose this book in a blog post. In that post, you also have to choose different covers of the book you select. To be more specific, you have to post the original cover, the covers from you country, your favourite cover, and lastly, your least favourite cover. So, here goes!

It’s a new year! So obviously me (and other people too I think) have to try and create a new me and fail spectacularly at that. But it’s all in the trying. Right? Right? Anyway, so for this week, I have to choose a book that motivates me and inspires me to be a better person. For this, I chose the book Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert. If you don’t know anything about this book, I’ll link the Goodreads page here. Lots of people read this book and didn’t like it. So many people thought that this is a book about a privileged woman whining about her first-world problems. Some people found it cheesy and sugarcoated. But I was interested in this book for a long time. And when I finally read it, it inspired me a lot. Though I have to admit that it was a little cheesy and it was a little sugarcoated. But it’s intentions were good. The best part was the part in Italy and then the part in India was good and the part in Bali was just okay. But the book still inspired me a lot and taught me a lot. So, I choose Eat, Pray, Love.

Original and Favourite Cover:

19501

This is the original and probably the most apt cover among all the other covers. This is pretty and contains little elements relating to the story. I really like the fonts in which it is written. And basically everything is close to being perfect!

Cover from my country(India):

7972797

This is the cover of my copy of the book. We also have the original cover in our country but I felt guilty about fusing three topics in one. So, I put this cover separately under this topic. It’s the movie cover and it’s okay. I don’t know how else to describe it.

Least Favourite Cover:

6037387

This Polish cover just looks sort of juvenile and hastily put together. It doesn’t look like something into which the publishers have put much thought. The font is all wrong. And they just put some pictures relating to the country (or not! :/). Come on! Step it up, publishers!

So, that’s all for today. Please comment if you’ve read the book. Did you like it? Did you hate it? Put it in the comments. I hope you liked this post. Thank you so much for reading it! Until next time then!

Fin!

-Sanchita.
