50+ Followers Appreciation Post and a Bookish Rant.

Hi guys! First of all, I am really sorry that I haven’t been active this last week and I missed posting a book discussion last Wednesday. It’s just that things have been really busy in college lately and I haven’t read any book since last week! Can you believe it? Last week! I am ashamed of myself. 😦 But the thing is, I have been in a horrible reading slump and I haven’t been able to pick up any book. I am really, really sorry guys. Can someone suggest me a book that can help me get out of this reading slump? Please give you suggestions in the comments. I need it. Badly.

As I haven’t been active here, I missed our 50 followers notification!! 50 FOLLOWERS!!!! It feels a lot to me because I didn’t think 10 people would be interested in reading what I have to say let alone 50!!!!followed-blog-50-2xSo, I just wanted to thank each and every one of you! Thank you for reading my posts and liking them and commenting on them and interacting with me and just EVERYTHING! It means a lot to all of us and we appreciate each and every one of you! You people encourage us to write more and more great articles. And obviously, to read more and more books. So, thank you for spending a little bit of your time on our posts. We love each and every one of you.

Now, for the rant part. On Tuesday, I suddenly got the news on Twitter than there is going to be a new gender bended story of Twilight, i.e., every male character in Twilight will be female and every female character will be male. As a result, the story would play out in a different way. It’s named Life and Death: Twilight Re-imagined. Now, the news sparked a lot of extreme feelings. The extreme reactions that I saw on Twitter is something that encouraged this post. As a person who appreciates Twilight, I wanted to say some things. I really don’t want to offend anyone. I just wanted to put my views out there in the world. So, here’s what I think.el-nuevo-libro-life-and-death-twilight-reimagined

Twilight has played a great role in my life as a reader. I started reading again because of Twilight. It got me into reading and gave me a hobby that I will cherish forever. After Twilight, I started reading too many books just to fill the hole it left in my life. Gradually, I began discovering so many great stories. So, I will forever be grateful to it. Many people have many diverse opinions about Twilight. I am not saying that the story is flawless and perfect or anything like that. I am just saying that it is a very addictive and interesting story despite its flaws. Sometimes, I feel like it has become a trend to hate on Twilight. It has become very cool to hate on it. I am not a great fan of the movies and I think the movies contributed to this hate. Whenever people tell me that they hate Twilight, the first question I ask is whether they have read the book. The answer in 90% of those scenarios is NO. I always urge people to just give the book a chance and then make up their minds about it. How can you hate on something without having at least a little knowledge about it? I will never understand.

Now for the book Life and Death: Twilight Re-imagined. The day after this book was announced, our local newspaper published an article on why Stephenie Meyer should inflict more of this terrible thing in this world. This extreme article got me thinking, how many people actually think like that and would not even give this book a chance before starting to hate it. Thinking about this saddens me. So, to all those people, I would again urge you to please read the book before you comment on it. It is perfectly okay to not like a book but it is not okay to hate on a book which you haven’t read. I always try not to judge any book without reading it. The reviews are going to obviously influence you, but do not hate on a book because of bad reviews.

At this point, I think I am repeating the same point again and again. So, I am going to stop now. Whatever I said in this post applied to not only Twilight but every other book out in this world. Tell me what you think about Twilight, about this new book and about this post as a whole. Let’s start a discussion about this in the comments. And again, THANK YOU SO MUCH for everything. Until next time then.

  1. Twilight has been a great game changer. I myself got into reading again when I read Twilight (and I think most reader “our generation” did although they wouldn’t like to admit it ~ well for those who didn’t finish reading hp like me anyways). I can honestly say that I was more of a Twilight kid than the hp one.
We can’t deny that movie became a hit and yes, I agree that more people started throwing hate on the series because of the movie. Suddenly, they became all “experts” on which is a good book/movie. Some even compare to hp which is totally wrong because they’re both different things.
It’s not a bad book really. It was very engaging and entertaining. I’m not just sure if I’ll read this re-imagined book. Probably not.

    1. I totally agree. Comparing Harry Potter with Twilight is absurd because both are of completely different genres. The only category in which both would fall together is fiction and that’s not enough to describe any book. I am a proud fan of both and I agree that it WAS a game-changer of our generation. 🙂

  2. Twilight has a lot of problems, but I was definitely super addicted to it when I was 16/17. My interest dropped dramatically when the first movie came out because I thought it was so terrible, and I think the awful movies helped making me realize a lot of the problems the books have. So I wouldn’t call myself a fan anymore, but I’m still grateful to Twilight for giving me something to be excited about after Harry Potter ended hahaha. I admit I’m going to read Life and Death and make a lot of fun of it, but it’ll mostly be lighthearted fun.

    1. Yes, I agree. In spite of the problems that this series has, everybody had like a “twilight” phase when they became obsessed with it. And then I had a phase where I started hating it simply because of peer pressure. But then I found an appreciation for the series. Also, I too will probably read Life and Death and laugh at it and make fun of it. 😛

  3. So completely agree with what you’ve just said! It bugs me so much when people hate on it without having ever read it. I was very obsessed with it when I was about 16-17, so I’ll always have an appreciation for it, even though I know there are some issues with it. I’m actually reading Life and Death at the moment, as I was really curious as to how different it would be. So far it is pretty much the same, scene for scene, but I think the writing is a bit smoother than in the original book. Are you planning to/have you read it?

      1. I will let you know! 🙂 I have started to get into the book now – I was expecting to find it a bit embarrassing, but I actually think some of the changes have made a difference (in a good way) and improved the book. Like Beau and Edythe seem to have more of a sense of humour than Bella and Edward, and there’s a bit more joking between them. I will try to review when I’ve finished 🙂
